2009 Season is almost here!!

Well it has been some time since we have been on the water!! The last leg of the Clinton river trip took place on September 27th. We began at Shady Side park in Mount Clemens and made our way throught the natural section of the river. We exited the river at St. Clair Harbor and made our way around the bay to Metro Park, came ashore and ate lunch. Then back out into the lake. Our Target was to locate an old man-made canal that is now used as a spilway for the river. This would have been difficult with out the aid of GPS navigation. our distance off shor was about 2.7 mi. the trip took about 6 hours and we avaraged 3 mph. This was one of the best trip of the entire season and we cannot wait to take a larger group on this trip in 2009!!!

october is really the start of the season when they open the dams upstream and the water rises
we paddle the clinton river most of the winter when the wate is high and is at a class 2-3
when the rochester bridge wave is close to 6 - 10 feet high
it may be cold at first but in your kayak your very warm

there is close to 30 of us that has been paddling this river for over 30 years now

it is over home river

we are the ones theat get out there and cut out the log jams

give sections of the river names like the vortex of death, area 13, the by pass, the high banks, rock island

you probley don't even know where those places are

or maybe you do

if you would like to paddle with the old timers let me know i can put you on our list we paddle the river almost every week year round

To the poster above, you're absolutely right! While you have to dress for a swim with a dry top or full suit, the past few months have been the best for paddling in the Rochester area!

At what water level is the wave below the Rochester bridge 6-10' high? At best, the highest I've seen it was roughly 3-4'.
